The piece
A five-foot entry bench in white oak — a place to sit, drop keys, and survive boots, bags and dogs.
The legs are wedged tenons you can see and feel, the top is a single glue-up with the grain running full length. It is deliberately overbuilt: this is a piece grandchildren will stand on.
The hardwax oil finish takes muddy boots without complaint. Entry pieces live hard lives, so this one was designed to be re-oiled, not refinished.
