The piece
The joint everything else hangs on: a hand-cut through-tenon, wedged and planed flush, photographed mid-fitting.
Between commissions I cut joints for the pleasure of it — testing a new shoulder angle, a different wedge wood, a finish schedule I want to try on a client piece. These studies are how the work keeps getting better.
