The piece
A low black-walnut credenza with hand-carved door fronts — storage that reads as sculpture from across the room.
The door panels are carved with gouges, not a router, so the surface catches light the way water catches it — no two panels the same, no repeat a machine would leave. Inside: soft-close drawers in hard maple, dovetailed by hand.
It sits in a living room in Bend now, holding records on one side and blankets on the other. The owners tell me guests touch the doors before they ask who made it.
